Caroline is a 4th year undergraduate student at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in the United States of America. She is completing a degree in International Affairs with a minor in Business and History. Graduating in May 2013, she plans on teaching English abroad for a few years before returning to school for her Master’s. She will be working at Mthente from September to October 2011.

caroline pageDuring her time at Mthente, Caroline contributed to desktop research for a SEDA sector study, as well as a competitiveness study for Productivity SA. She also assisted in the fieldwork for Mthente’s FEDICS catering services study, a survey with students at the University of Cape Town.

Prior to coming to South Africa, Caroline spent a semester abroad, September through December 2010, at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. In Prague, she took classes focusing on East and Central European studies. Volunteering at a local high school, she helped Czech students practice their English. She also spent June 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia learning about Armenian History and Human Rights.

Previously, Caroline spent six months interning at a high school student exchange organisation, Youth For Understanding (YFU) USA, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At YFU, she focused on finding host families for high school students around the world who wished to spend an academic semester or year at a high school in the New England area of the United States. She also volunteered at her University, working with students from China who came to the United States to improve their English and eventually attend university in the United States.
