Kate Hach
Kate is a Master’s student from the University of Amsterdam who will graduate in European Foreign Relations at the end of 2011. She will be working as an intern at Mthente from August to October 2011. During her time at Mthente, she conducted desktop research for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and Productivity SA, as well as assisting with fieldwork for a FEDICS catering services survey at the University of Cape Town.
Kate is half South African, half German and has been
living in the Netherlands for the past six years. She has welcomed the
opportunity to return to South Africa after many years away.
Kate started her studies by pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies and went on to complete another Bachelors degree in Political Science. Her Master’s thesis will focus on South African energy security and how South Africa’s position in the multipolar world influences this policy area.
After holding a research assistance position at the University of Amsterdam, Kate would like to pursue this career path and hopes to gain valuable experience at Mthente on conducting research on a variety of topics.
