Thabiso joined Mthente in February 2011 as a work experience student to learn more about the business environment, as well as take part in research activities. He will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Sociology from the University of Zululand this year and is currently pursuing his Honours degree at the University of Cape Town in the same discipline.

In 2009, Thabiso volunteered at Greylingstad Clinic to familiarise himself with the daily activities of running a health-related business. This experience increased his interest in pursuing a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in the near future.

While in his second year as an undergraduate student at the University of Zululand, Thabiso was selected by the Department of Sociology to work with the Elizabeth City State University on a research programme called Elizabeth Minority Health International Research Training Program (E-MHIRT). The purpose of this research was to investigate the possible factors that lead to diseases that affect people of the black diaspora.

In his spare time, Thabiso is an avid reader, a social critic and enjoys playing golf.
