Mthente undertook research in four key areas related to CITI's Growth strategy May 2008 - May 2009.

Mthente undertook four research projects for CITI:

  • Firstly, Mthente examined five selected niche areas in the ICT area to aid in the implementation of CITI’s export promotion plan. This project entailed holding focus groups as well as interviews with four selected companies operating in the identified niche areas of : online digital media; software development; open source software development ; IT services and communications(ICT)

  • Secondly, Mthente developed and documented a tailor made methodology and evaluation tool to monitor and assess the impact of an implemented Export Promotion Plan.

  • The third project involved undertaking a skills need survey to gauge the readiness of the Western Cape as an outsourcing destination in the key areas of: business application development; security software development and managed services and outsourced ICT support

  • Finally, Mthente assembled a series of case studies detailing the experiences and achievements of ten  Cape Town based companies in the ICT sector who are involved in outsourcing for international clients.

Mthente has recently been commissioned to undertake the following projects, among others:

  • A Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for the City of Cape Town's Department of Social Development
  • A Regulatory Impact Assessment for the Department of Trade and Industry
  • A Value Chain Analysis and Beneficiation Study for Productivity SA
  • A Customer Satisfaction Survey for the City of Cape Town's HR Department
  • A Total Cost of Ownership Study for the Centre for e-Innovation
