Mthente's Transformation Initiatives

Share |

In terms of the 9 February 2007 Gazetted Codes of Good Practice and Broad-Based Black Empowerment Act 53/2003, Mthente, as an exempted micro enterprise, has been accredited with a Level 3 BEE status. Click here to view the certificate.

Beyond South Africa’s stipulated legal requirements, Mthente is committed on a deeper level to ongoing socio-economic transformation, both internally and externally. South Africa is still emerging out of a past that was characterised by deep inequalities based on race and gender and therefore requires an ongoing commitment by both small and large companies to actively pursue a highly skilled but diverse working environment that is free from discrimination and prejudice.

As a vital part of transformation, Mthente is also committed to skills development through various means, including:

  • Sourcing fieldworkers from unemployment databases and training them to conduct socio-economic surveys;
  • Offering work experience placements to young South Africans and international students;
  • Hosting a conference about the challenges of youth in the 21st century in Africa and how to create opportunities through education and entrepreneurship;
  • Offering in-house training to Mthente staff members;
  • Supporting emerging entrepreneurs and NGOs in the local community through coaching and other complimentary business services.
