Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa – Qualitative and Quantitative Fieldwork for a Telemedicine Study

In October 2011, the Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa commissioned Mthente with project managing qualitative and quantitative interviews for a teleradiology study. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of teleradiology in South Africa. This is the second project that Mthente has undertaken for the MRC.
      

Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) – Brand Awareness and Perception Survey

In October 2011, Mthente was commissioned by Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) to conduct a brand awareness and perception survey. TIKZN is a provincial trade and investment promotion agency which works to promote the province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as an investment destination for local and foreign investment, as well as to help KZN based companies grow through identifying opportunities in export markets. By conducting this survey, Mthente will help TIKZN assess stakeholder perceptions in the key local, national and international markets where it seeks to promote increased investment.
      

Medical Research Council (MRC) - Collection, Collation and Development of a Research Data Set for Analysis

In March 2011, Mthente was commissioned by the Medical Research Council (MRC) to assist in carrying out a study analysing the relationship between substance abuse, health behaviours, and the health status of patients currently being treated for Human Immune Deficiency (HIV) at clinics in Cape Town.

      

Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) Foundation - Evaluation of the Impact of LEAD’s Global Programme

Mthente has been commissioned by LEAD to conduct an impact study assessing the impact of LEAD’s Global Programme on American and South African students preparing for university.
      

Monaco and the City of Cape Town – Community Needs Assessment and Baseline Survey

In February 2011, Mthente was commissioned by the Department of Sport, Recreation and Amenities (SRA) of the City of Cape Town and Monaco (an international funder) to conduct research that will identify and provide information on the state of existing community development initiatives in the community of Protea Park in Atlantis, how they can be supported and what the Department’s new project should look like. The research will involve a baseline survey, as well as the development of key performance indicators that can be used to measure the impact of the SRA’s project in the designated area.
      

Draftfcb Social Marketing – National Survey for the South African Sugar Association (SASA)

Mthente has been commissioned by Draftfcb Social Marketing, on behalf of the South African Sugar Association (SASA), to establish who, among the population of sugar consumers, are most concerned about their health in relation to sugar.

      

Financial and Fiscal Commission (FFC) – Impact Assessment

Mthente has been tasked by the Financial Fiscal Commission (FCC) to conduct a survey on the current levels of understanding, perceptions and attitudes about the existence, mandate, roles and recommendations of the Financial Fiscal Commission.

      

Department of the Premier - Perception Survey of the Services and Branding of the Centre for e-Innovation

In February 2009, Mthente conducted a baseline perception survey among Intranet users in the Provincial Government of the Western Cape to assess their perceptions of the branding and services of the Centre for e-Innovation (Ce-I). To measure progress against this baseline, Mthente has been commissioned to carry out a follow up survey in 2010/2011.

      

Draftfcb Social Marketing – Qualitative Research to Inform the Development of a Campaign Strategy for Proudly South African

Mthente has been tasked by Draftfcb Social Marketing to carry out qualitative research that will inform the development of a campaign strategy for Proudly South African, a “buy local” campaign that was launched in 2001 by government, organised business, organised labour and community organisations in South Africa to boost job creation and pride in “local” by promoting South African companies and their ‘homegrown’ products and services.

      

City of Cape Town – Baseline Survey Assessing the State of Sports, Recreation and Leisure Activities in Cape Town

In May 2010, Mthente Research and Consulting Services, in partnership with Quest Research Services, was commissioned by the Department of Sport, Recreation and Amenities (SRA) of the City of Cape Town to conduct a baseline survey to provide information about the current state of recreation and leisure time activities, as well as access to the usage of available facilities, in the City of Cape Town.

      

Yardstick – National Baseline Research for Eskom’s Energy Loss Programme

In 2009 and 2010, Mthente conducted research that informed the development and implementation of a public awareness campaign in support of Eskom’s Energy Loss Programme. The primary goal was to collect baseline information for Yardstick and Draftfcb Social Marketing that would help inform the development and implementation of a social marketing campaign aiming to reduce electricity losses through behaviour alteration.
 

      

Draftfcb Social Marketing – Desktop Study to Inform a National Baseline Survey and Social Marketing Campaign

Mthente Research and Consulting Services was commissioned by Draftfcb on behalf of Eskom to conduct desktop research for the Energy Loss Programme (ELP) Social Marketing Campaign. The main purpose of the study was to identify other social marketing campaigns locally and internationally that could help inform the development of a national survey and social marketing campaign to curb the prevalence of electricity theft in South Africa.

      

Draftfcb Social Marketing - Baseline Research and Survey of Target Audiences for the Broadcasting Digital Migration Process in South Africa

Mthente has been commissioned to conduct a survey of the current levels of awareness, understanding, perceptions, attitudes and behaviours/intended behaviours regarding the migration to digital television.

      

City of Cape Town and Draftfcb Social Marketing - Qualitative and Quantitative Energy Efficiency Survey with Western Cape Residents

In September 2009, Draftfcb Social Marketing, on behalf of the Environmental Resource Management Department of the City of Cape Town, commissioned Mthente to carry out exploratory focus groups and administer a short questionnaire with a diverse range of Cape Town residents on the topic of energy efficiency and saving electricity. The qualitative and quantitative findings from the study will help inform the City’s energy efficiency campaign, which is being developed by Draftfcb.

      

Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) - Qualitative and Quantitative Survey with Visual Arts Teachers and Learners in the Western Cape

Mthente has been commissioned to conduct quantitative and qualitative research to investigate the state of basic visual art education in schools and communities in the Western Cape.

 


      

Cape Town Fashion Council – Needs Assessment Survey Among Fashion Entrepreneurs

In January 2009, Mthente was commissioned by the Cape Town Fashion Council (CTFC) to carry out an assessment of the needs of local fashion designers in the Western Cape to inform the creation of the Council’s Competitiveness Programme.

      

Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape - Passenger Perception Survey

Mthente conducted a Passenger Perception Survey amongst Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) Passengers to inform the ongoing decision-making processes of the Department of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape.
      

Cape Information Technology Initiative (CITI) - Sector Survey

Mthente undertook research in four key areas related to CITI'S Growth Strategy May 2008 - May 2009.
      

The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) - Trade Policy Research

Mthente has conducted trade policy research in a number of fields. The central research undertaking has been the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Trade and Investment Cooperation Project, carried out under the auspices of the South African Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA).
      

CLOTEX - Industry Research Project

Mthente was commissioned to undertake a research project to identify the growth potential of the clothing industry in the Western Cape and to identify the constraints to growth.
