Mthente has been commissioned by LEAD to conduct an impact study assessing the impact of LEAD’s Global Programme on American and South African students preparing for university. Mthente will adopt the following methodological approach to complete the study:

  • Desktop research to develop an overview of the LEAD Global Programme in South Africa and the United States.
  • Analysis of the return on investment of the programme using a financial assessment model.
  • One-on-one interviews with key role players in the development and implementation of the Global Programme.
  • Survey of past and present participants in the Global Programme from both South Africa and the United States.
  • Focus groups with past participants.
  • Development of participant profiles highlighting the experiences of past participants in the Programme.

The primary objective of the study is to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of the LEAD Global Programme in order to provide the Programme’s funders with a detailed analysis of expenditure, return on investment and the requisite models to project the likely impact of continued investment. The research will also document and profile the real impact of the Programme in shaping the perceptions and academic outlook of individual participants.
