Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa – Qualitative and Quantitative Fieldwork for a Telemedicine Study

In October 2011, the Medical Research Council (MRC) of South Africa commissioned Mthente with project managing qualitative and quantitative interviews for a teleradiology study. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of teleradiology in South Africa. This is the second project that Mthente has undertaken for the MRC.

The research project is comprised of four “work packages” which include:

  • Concordance study.
  • Telemedicine user satisfaction survey.
  • Telemedicine effectiveness study.
  • Telemedicine cost effectiveness study.

To carry out the study, Mthente draws on a team of knowledgeable and experienced researchers and fieldworkers, and has extensive experience conducting research on health issues in South Africa. Mthente’s core deliverables for the MRC include a clean and vetted data set, analysed in SPSS and Atlas.ti, as well as full fieldwork reports.
