Mthente worked with both the management teams and staff of the International Academic Programmes Office, Department of Student Affairs, Development and Alumni Department and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences to develop their strategic focus and plans.

The format of the workshops Mthente conducted, took the form of facilitated brainstorming sessions and debates, small group activities and informal discussions.

In this way, participants were guided through the process of defining the department’s mission – its overall purpose, its vision, strategic objectives and the core values underpinning its culture. To facilitate frank discussions and a high-level of participation, the workshops were informed by a flexible agenda, allowing the overall direction taken by the session to be determined by participants’ needs, concerns and requirements.
