Mthente has been commissioned by Yardstick to conduct qualitative research with Eskom employees that will seek to address Occupational Health and Safety issues.

The research will include:

  • Ascertaining the current levels of awareness, understanding, perceptions and attitudes about Occupational Health and Safety policies and guidelines among Eskom employees at an organisational and divisional level.
  • Identifying the barriers and enablers that will allow Eskom employees to view Occupational Health and Safety as paramount in their attitudes and behaviour.
  • Establishing Eskom Employees’ needs related to Occupational Health and Safety issues in the company.

To achieve the above objectives, Mthente will use its extensive experience in developing and carrying out qualitative research to conduct focus group discussions with Eskom employees at various levels of the organisation.

The overall objectives of the research are to foster a safe work environment, increase interest in health and safety issues among Eskom employees and to protect co-workers, family members, customers, suppliers and other members of the public.
